From pre-war artefacts to haute couture

Every artefact carries its own form, construction and history. Working closely with the Heritage Conservation Centre’s curators, RM develops display solutions around the individual requirements of each piece.

Over the years, this work has supported the presentation of collections ranging from pre-war artefacts to haute couture at the National Museum of Singapore.

Beginning with the artefact

The process begins at HCC, where each artefact is measured and assessed together with the curators.

A fibreglass mannequin with the closest suitable size and form is then selected as the foundation. From there, RM carefully modifies the mannequin to achieve the required fit, allowing the display to follow the artefact’s original form.

Beyond the mannequin

Some artefacts require a more specialised approach. Where a standard mannequin cannot provide the necessary support, RM troubleshoots the display requirements and develops bespoke metal stands or fixtures.

Each support is shaped around the object, helping curators present difficult-to-adorn artefacts without placing unnecessary stress on the material.

Displaying something that requires a different approach?

We develop custom display solutions around the form and requirements of each object.
